Art journaling is the practice of keeping a sketchbook as a research tool.
Every project will have related art journal assignments. The assignments require you to work as an artist researcher. Your commitment, effort, and creativity are all required.
Tips for success:
1. Become a collector.
2. Prep pages ahead of time. Need a break, prep a page. Painting too wet, prep a page.
3. Develop a personal style or process toward developing a page.
4. Put the due dates in your agenda!

The students will use various forms of typography to explore graphic design, use established fonts, and create their own fonts. Students will organize interesting designs with a point of emphasis.

Students will practice drawing a self portrait to develop an understanding for facial proportions. Students will then develop a self portrait which expresses their personal identity. This is a unique opportunity for students to direct their art making toward personal goals and interests.
