Welcome To Visual Arts
Course Description: Art in the middle grades is for the transition from elementary school to high school level art. This includes learning to develop and communicate personal ideas in art, observational drawing skills, color theory, self evaluation, and the formation of habits necessary for success in art production and other areas of life.
8th Grade: In the eighth grade emphasis is placed on art production with a focus on communicating ideas of personal importance and contemporary art. The structure of this course is intended to lead students toward becoming independent artists or makers in the 21st century. |
7th Grade: In the seventh grade, our emphasis is on art materials and techniques, applied under-standing of design, and the study of famous artworks from the perspective of the artist. Information and activities are integrated within this emphasis from the disciplines of art production, art criticism, art history, and aesthetics.
